Patrick got the equipment on as best as he could, to be honest, it was kinda comfortable, Well, as comfortable as you can feel wearing something that makes Daft Punk look like normal folks. First he got a feel for the equipment so he could more easily work it, if hes going to be playing this game as much as he thinks he will, he better learn about the bloody thing.
Touching what looked like a power button brought up the boot up screen, immediately starting the process of calibration, the calibration seemed to be, again, very complex and throughout to ensure the perfect set up. At the end of the system calibration he finally got into the opening cynamatic, rather impressive, like one of his stories, this Baldwin place sounded rather interesting!
Now came the hard part, the character and avatar. Now Patrick wasn't a picky man, in fact he can be rather reasonable... but this character MUST be unique, if he was going to represent him as a second skin of sorts, he must make himself look presentable!
2.5 hours later.
"There, I've done it! now to make a name." he said exhausted from his own need to make this avatar unique. Sadly during his trip down to the character name area he made a slight slip up... clicking random. thus changing his painstakingly formed avatar into a rather fat midget with a florescent blue mohawk. Needless to say... this took another hour to recover from.
2.5 hours later, again.
He managed to summon up his pride and made his avatar again, this time successfully reaching the naming area. Deleteing the randomized name of "Lolzoars372" and typing down a name he thought would be suitable for this man he finally chose the name, "Sieghart." it wasn't the greatest name in the world, wasn't that hugely fancy either... but it suited him in a way.
"Alright Sieg, lets get you a weapon, oh yeah the element... maybe..." he thought for a moment and then got an idea "Ah, air, why not huh Sieg?' he asked his avatar who just stared blatantly at him. Patrick sighed and mentally scorned himself for talking to a avatar of himself. Quickly choosing a weapon for Sieghart to use, he chose a spear and then chose Baldwin for his starting area and region.
Finally he was ready, now to complete the training room! the controls were easy enough, surprising due to the complexity of the hardware, it seemed to respond to his commands very well! Now it came to combat, his first enemy was...
"no...nonononononononon this can't be... why? Why this of all things!' Patrick barely chocked out as he started shaking as if he just seen the fiery pits of hell.
the game displayed a message.
"First mission, defeat the possessed hairbrush!"
Followed by immediate log out and huddling into a corner, this again took a long while before he was able to even look at the machine again due to fear.
2.5 hours later, yet again!
Finally summoning up his courage, he attempted the training room again. This time ready to face it! he must do this or he will never be a hero as he wishes.. or at least try to be a hero that is. He had to go through the tutorial again, instead of getting annoyed by the repeated tutorial he used it to brace himself for what might come...
"First mission, defeat the possessed comb!"
A moment of silence was given for the tension that was suddenly killed...
- Spoiler:
Combs are fine, they are nothing like the evil that is a brush.
Quickly dispatching the comb, his finally finished the training room and was kicked out into the world! Quite literally, the combat tutorial NPC got annoyed at his cowardice against a simple brush and kicked him out.
landing in the starting area head first, he was ready to start his adventure.
